Interview with Jim GindinOne of our guys, Gabe, recently had a chat with Jim Gindin, the owner of Solecismic Software, and the programmer of the new career football simulator for the PC, Front Office Football.
Gabe : SGN welcomes the owner of Solecismic Software, and the programmer of the new career football simulator for the PC, Front Office Football... Jim Ginden! Jim : Thanks for giving me the opportunity to talk about the game. Gabe : Glad you could be here with us, Jim. Tell me why you decided to create this sim? Jim : From the time I was old enough to roll dice, the numbers in sports have fascinated me. I learned about programming in college, and made that into a career. But I knew I wouldn't be satsified until I'd found a way to combine these interests. Now that I've been in the programming field for several years, I have enough experience to create a significant project. I'm just glad to be able to write the game I wanted to play all along. Gabe : Was there a particular game that served as the model or inspiration for Front Office Football? Jim : I have an enormous amount of respect for the work Tom Tippett has done with Diamond Mind Baseball. Seeing what he was able to achieve with a text-based sim served as an early model. Then, last year, when I reviewed Baseball Mogul for another publication, I realized that it was still possible to break into the genre without spending a fortune on graphics. Seeing that game do so well was definitely the reason I decided to go forward with this project. © 1998-2006 Sports Gaming Network. Entire legal statement. Feedback
